Abstract

We will promote energy conservation and emission reduction in buildings, build a new building system to "go green", and jointly build livable, resilient and smart cities.

In September 2020, China set the goals of "carbon peaking" by 2030 and "carbon neutrality" by 2060. Since then, the goal of "double carbon" has become the direction of joint efforts of all sectors of society. Green buildings are the key to achieving the goal of "double carbon". 

#1 What is a "green" building?

Shanxi Xiaohe International Convention and Exhibition Center (hereinafter referred to as "Convention and Exhibition Center"), which was officially put into operation on January 1, 2023, is led by Du Yanzhe, deputy chief architect of Shanxi Architectural Design and Research Institute and national first-class registered architect. She believes that "green buildings can protect the environment and reduce pollution through land, energy, water and material saving measures during the whole life cycle of buildings. To provide people with healthy, appropriate and efficient use of the space." From the beginning of the planning and design of the convention center, the green concept of energy conservation and emission reduction has been established, advanced energy-saving technology has been scientifically applied, and renewable energy has been actively explored, providing valuable experience with reference for the practical application of green building.

The exhibition Center is located in the southwest of Xiaohe Modern Industrial Park at the bend of Xiaohe River. It consists of north group, middle group and south group, with a net land area of 510,900 square meters, a total construction area of 281,000 square meters, a net exhibition area of about 100,000 square meters, and 5,000 international standard booths. Positioning to build an international exhibition hall that can undertake internationalization, high-end, professional large-scale exhibition. Inspired by the mountains and rivers in Shanxi Province, the general scheme is designed with the ridges of Taihang Mountain as the outline of the roof, and the waves of the Yellow River as a continuous roof. The overall shape is like a butterfly about to take off. The various applications of the concept of "green construction" in the construction process are explained to us through the interview with Mr. Du.

#2 Energy conservation and emission reduction promote the innovative development of green buildings

To realize energy saving and emission reduction is an important content and core value of green building. Mr. Du believes that saving money and reducing expenditure is an important means to realize building energy saving. "Open source mainly means to seek clean energy, renewable energy to replace the conventional fossil energy; And throttling means reducing the building's own energy needs through advanced energy-saving technologies."

One of the important measures to realize building energy saving and emission reduction in convention and exhibition center is the practical application of light storage direct soft technology.

Photovoltaic power generation panel is used to convert solar energy into continuous and stable direct current energy, which is transported to the single transformer and distribution room through the DC trunk line. The photovoltaic power station is equipped with an energy storage device to store photoelectric resources during the day and provide a stable supply for the lighting of the exhibition center at night. "The exhibition center is equipped with 70,000 square meters of photovoltaic roofing, which can generate 8.4 million KWH of electricity annually after completion. It can replace 2,600 tons of standard coal, meet the power supply of about 650,000 square meters of public lighting and car charging piles nearby, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7,400 tons even without considering DC power distribution and flexible control factors."

In addition, the convention and exhibition center adopts the light tube lighting system, which collects natural light and reallocates it to realize 24-hour lighting in the underground garage. The ground source heat pump technology is used to supply domestic hot water and air conditioning cold and hot sources in the region. By making full use of non-traditional water sources and applying sponge city design to meet various water needs, the utilization rate of non-traditional water sources reaches 71.2% and the utilization rate of rainwater resources is 39.58%.

#3 Prefabricated buildings help building energy conservation and emission reduction

It is imperative to promote and apply prefabricated buildings to construct new building system "to go green". The main body of the convention center adopts the long-span steel frame structure, and the assembly rate reaches more than 75%, meeting the prefabricated 2A class building standard. "Prefabricated steel structures are assembled on site, and the dry process is adopted at the construction site, which can effectively avoid material waste and environmental pollution, and also greatly reduce construction noise."

【 Application of new roof Integration Technology】

In the selection of roofing materials, the team led by President Du and Wiskind, through in-depth research and test, adopted steel sheet roofing in the north side of the project, which has outstanding functions such as anticorrosion, waterproofing, windproof and durability. In addition, the integrated use of various technologies was considered in the design, such as snow retaining system, fall protection system, cleaning system, lightning protection system and nightview lighting system. Strive to make the roof safe, applicable, economical and innovative while beautiful.

#4 In the future, make the building full of green vitality

Since 1980, China's building energy conservation has gone through three stages: 30%, 50% and 65%. Remarkable achievements have been made especially in reducing energy consumption of residential buildings in cold and cold areas, energy consumption of public buildings and increasing the proportion of renewable energy used in buildings.
